Diane Dimond is an award-winning investigative journalist whose work in the crime and justice arena has been featured on radio, television and in print. She is also the author of four books. Many of her most memorable stories can be attributed to the assistance of brave whistleblowers who came to Dimond for help in exposing wrongdoings within the justice system.
Her latest book, We’re Here to Help – When Guardianship Goes Wrong (Brandeis University Press, Sept 2023) reveals the ugly reality behind the secretive court system that is supposed to protect our nation’s most vulnerable people. Instead the guardianship system (called conservatorship in a few states) allows predatory insiders to prey on at-risk “wards of the court” who have been systematically striped of both their civil rights and all their assets. Over the course of eight years, and with the help of a nationwide cadre of whistleblower family members, Dimond pieced together just how the multi-billion dollar system has become a corrupt racket populated by chummy judges, lawyers, guardians and conservators - much to the detriment of innocent Americans. The human suffering Dimond discovered screams for attention to be paid and meaningful legal remedies to be enacted.
