Whistleblower Summit & Film Festival joins in solidarity with organizations all over the world in preventing and combating fraud during International Fraud Awareness Week 2023. The movement officially kicks off Sunday, November 12th and concludes Saturday, November 18th. We will contribute to the Fraud Week campaign with a special Encore Presentation of our 2023 Film Festival event screenings.
According to a recent study conducted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), fraud costs organizations all over the world an estimated 5 percent of their annual profits. According to the ACFE 2022 Occupational Fraud report, 2,110 occupational fraud cases caused a total loss of more than $3.6 billion.
These significant losses of revenue will continue if businesses do not take a stand against fraudulent cases. Our organization firmly believes that whistleblowers often play a key role in combating fraudsters. Therefore, WSFF will participate at the yearly Fraud Week movement by showing an Encore Presentation of this year’s Film Festival event screenings. During Encore, we will highlight how whistleblowers can become tipsters in fraud exposure.
“Whistleblowers and Fraud Busters go together like Batman and Robin,” said Michael McCray, WSFF Co-Founder and Managing Director. “That’s why we host an Encore Presentation of our event during Fraud Week. We highlight the symbiotic relationship between whistleblowers and anti-fraud professionals, as well as the important role whistleblowers play in exposing corporate fraud and government corruption.”
We are equally excited to announce that in 2024, the WSFF will be collaborating with the American University School of Communications “Media That Matters” to help inspire communications students, writers, and filmmakers to create whistleblower stories, documentaries, and narrative films.
